Current Projects:

-DJ’s Take Control Training Course

Organisation: Monaghan Garda Youth Diversion Project

Monaghan Garda Youth Diversion Project have identified 2 small groups who access the service to participate in DJ training delivered over 4 workshops & ending in a public performance at the Monaghan Halloween Celebration which is an annual event. The groups will learn how to use Turntables & CD Players in a performance capacity. Space within the event has been agreed so the groups can perform in front of the local community.

-DJ Course (Beginner Level)

Organisation: Catholic Youth Care (Bray)

A youth group who access youth clubs in Ballywalltrim Community Centre will meet weekly over 6 sessions to learn about DJ’ing. Music appreciation, career opportunities, history of DJ’ing, operation of equipment & recording will be covered in this course. The group will produce a cd as a result of the project.

Recent Projects:

-DJ Taster Workshops

Organisation: CDVEC (Marino College)

Taster workshops in DJ’ing were delivered in Marino College which is a secondary school based in Fairview, Dublin. Students had the opportunity to participate in workshops which covered DJ history, Career Opportunities, Equipment function & mixing techniques as part of the schools music classes.

-Radio Broadcasting Project

Organisation: Cabra For Youth

A 6 week broadcasting course was designed & delivered with a young womens group from Cabra during September & October. Initial meetings & sessions were held in Cabra for Youth before bringing the group to NEARFM to record content for the show. The project was funded by Finglas/ Cabra Drugs Task Force & NEARFM provided the space for the recording sessions. The finished broadcast included interviews, discussion & information on the topic of drug use & young people. Music was also selected & introduced by the group & program layout as well as radio techniques were covered. The finished show will be produced on cd’s for the organisation & the show will be made available online soon.

-DJ Taster Workshops

Organisation: CDVEC (Whitehall School Completion Project)

Whitehall School Completion Project run summer activities for their participants & DJ workshops are a popular option. Young particpants aged 12-13 years were invited & given the opportunity to select & mix their favourite music.
